Parent Information

The Garner Generals represent the competitive division of baseball for Garner Sports League. This offering is available for any highly motivated and competitive players in Garner, North Carolina and surrounding areas. The number of teams available are fielded based on age group interest and team rosters are determined by tryouts. Participation on a Garner Generals team requires a high level of commitment from both the participant and their parents. Garner Generals teams participate in tournaments sanctioned by TopGun, USSSA, and others throughout North Carolina.

Teams are self-funded and may recruit sponsorship to offset costs such as tournament fees, equipment, the use of training facilities and/or clinics and special events.

There is no cost to tryout for a Garner Generals travel team.

Travel costs per player will vary based on the team. Each team has the flexibility to determine the number and type of tournaments that the team wishes to enter, use of commercial batting cages, and extra team development opportunities with outside professional coaches. Once a team is selected, players and parents are asked to help with fundraising by directly funding or finding sponsors or donors to offset costs on a per team basis.

Players will be required to purchase a uniform package with typically includes:

Uniform Package

• 2 uniform jerseys

• 1 cap

• 2 baseball pants

• 1 batting helmet

• 1 bat bag

• custom logo socks

Other typical team and player fees can include:

• Tournament Fees

• League Insurance

• League Administration Fee (supplies, mailings, tax preparation, etc)

• Sanctioning Fee paid to various tournament providers like USSSA or TopGun

• Batting Cage Time

• Hitting Clinics

• Pitching Clinics

At the point that your player is offered a spot on the team, you may be responsible for forwarding a non-refundable deposit to be used towards funding the team. This will secure your player’s place on the team and allow us to move forward with ordering uniforms and registering to play in tournaments.
